The Wood Element (Focus and Uses)
In Chinese philosophy, the Wu Xing (Qi Elements), contain five distinct elements. Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water. Each have there own characteristics that can be used for health and spiritual awareness. This article focuses on the Wood element.
Wood is a natural cleanser in our environment. The trees on our planet act as Earth’s lungs, purifying the air. According to Chinese medical theory, the Wood element is a part of the birth cycle, or spring, and is associated with the young buds that spring gives.
Wood Element Emotions
The natural tendency of the Wood element is to feel patience in the positive, and frustration in the negative. Understanding this can help us identify the Wood element being in balance or out of balance in our lives.
Often times an individual who endures a lot of frustration has their Wood element out of balance. Balancing the element with the practice of patience will help re-tune the element. Visualizing healthy green forests, full of health and energy will also help re-tune an out of balance Wood element.
Wood Element Organs
Organs that are associated with the Wood element from Chinese medicine are the liver and gall bladder. The Wood element is powerful in detoxification because of this association. It governs the cleansing of our blood.
The Wood element maintains the flow of Qi through the body, much like the blood through our veins.
