The Earth Element (Focus and Uses)
In Chinese philosophy, the Wu Xing (Qi Elements), contain five distinct elements. Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water. Each have there own characteristics that can be used for health and spiritual awareness. This article focuses on the Earth element.
The Earth element provides nourishment for the entire planet. All living things come from the soil, and the soil must be fertile to provide life. The Earth element has a connection with digestion, and thus allows us to digest the details of day to day life.
Earth Element Emotions
The Earth element generally brings a sense of clarity, because it is grounded and centered in our lives. The positive emotion is empathy, and the negative emotion is worry. Our harmonic condition of the Earth element defines our ability to empathize with others in our life.
Earth as a planet has unconditional love for all it’s inhabitant. No matter what condition, the Earth is willing to provide. Therefore, a troubled individual full of anxiety and lack, typically has an out of balance Earth element. The Earth element is abundance, if we are not feeling abundant, perhaps our Earth element is imbalanced.
Earth Element Organs
Governed by the Earth element in our physical body is the stomach and spleen/pancreas. Our ability to digest food is directly related with the state of balance of our Earth element. The Earth comes with the soil to nurture an entire planet. It renews all things that return to the soil, much like our ability to digest the nutrients of the food we eat.
